Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels. –Hebrews 13:2
The Hospitality Committee is dedicated to promoting an atmosphere of hospitality within the community of St. Ann Parish so that all who join our parish family feel their presence is important and wanted. The members of this committee, guided by the Holy Spirit, welcome newcomers, helping them to feel more comfortable and part of our church family. There are many opportunities to engage in hospitality at St. Ann Church. Welcoming people to Mass, engaging new parishioners, assisting during funerals and parish events, participating in meal trains, planning family movie nights, and hosting weekly parish fellowship opportunities after Mass are ways to get involved. Contact Bailey Sutkowi at [email protected]if you are interested in any of the following ministries.
Welcoming Committee-New Member Outreach
Welcoming Committee members work with greeters to meet new parishioners and inspire the newest members joining our church family to share their gifts and talents, and assure those new members are given the opportunity to connect with the specific projects, committees, and organizations found in our parish. People involved in this ministry make welcome phone calls, invite them to parish functions, host periodic welcome events and act as resource liaisons for the new parishioners. The time commitment is varied according to your schedule.
Parish Fellowship
After each Sunday Mass, participants can host Sunday Parish fellowship and actively engage with parishioners. This is a great time to get to know one’s parish family and spend time catching up with old friends while making new ones. During the event, coffee and food may be served. On Saturday evenings, Parish Fellowship involves a possible dinner or serving finger foods and wine. Again, hosts work to engage parishioners in conversation and lighthearted fellowship. Participants in this part of the hospitality ministry can participate as a host on Saturday or Sunday as often as they wish during the year. The host would be responsible for planning, setting up, and cleaning up after the fellowship event.
Parish Movie Night
St. Ann Church occasionally sponsors a move night geared towards families or adults only. The goal is to engage the parishioners of St. Ann in an activity that demonstrates how even in relaxation one can find reminders of God and the Catholic faith. During the evening, Father Tom presents a reflection to explain what can be observed from the particular movie regarding God, the Catholic faith, morality, etc. The movies are mainstream movies such as “The Incredibles” or “The Chronicles of Narnia”. Popcorn or food may be served during the evening. Participants in this part of the hospitality ministry can help plan the movie nights, host the evening, organize the food served, etc.
Parish Funeral and Event Luncheon Team
The Funeral and Event Luncheon Team provides the meal that is served after a funeral or during special parish events. The Team provides a hot, well-prepared meal to anyone who asks for the hospitality of the church. St. Ann Parish is especially sensitive to the needs of the stranger who happens to make his way to our door. The Team understands that their service is an opportunity to show the love of God to those in the parish and extended community. It is an opportunity to provide Christian love and compassion not only to the people of St. Ann Parish, but also to our neighbors. During funerals, the team tends to the needs of people in a time of deep pain and loss and they are able to evangelize to those who may not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. A member of The Funeral and Event Luncheon Team is a follower of Jesus Christ, has the ability to prepare and cook large quantities of food, has an understanding of the relationship between hospitality and evangelization, is able to work with a team, and has a flexible schedule. Men and women are welcome to serve. As a member of this team you can choose to provide food for funerals and events and/or you can choose to be present to help serve when needed.
